DXL1218

DXL1218 targets an antigen designated EGFR (Epidermal growth factor receptor) that is overexpressed in metastatic colorectal cancer and in squamous cell carcinomas of the head and neck. EGFR is a key element in the cell division and survival of these cancers and is also involved in insuring blood supply to the tumors (angiogenesis). The therapeutic antibody directed against EGFR blocks the activities of the receptor by preventing its interaction with ligand effectively stopping the chain of events normally occurring upon the interaction. DXL1218 has been shown to react with tumor cells expressing levels of EGFR not detected by existing antibodies and to mediate immune reactions to kill these cells in greatly enhanced manner.
